Obama’s visit to India will begin from Mumbai on November 6.
Obama will leave Washington on November 5 and arrive in Mumbai on November 6, the White House has announced. Releasing the itinerary of Obama, it said, ”the US regards India as the cornerstone of its Asia policy, and is, therefore, attaching great importance to Obama’s four-day visit to India in the first week of November.”
Obama’s first stop in the financial capital of the country will be Taj Hotel, the target of 26/11 terrorist attack, where he would commemorate victims of the attack, lay wreath at Police Gymkhana and meet survivors of the terror attack.
After his visit to the Gandhi Museum, he will then meet leaders of the Indian industry at the US-India Business Council on November 7 and stay overnight at the Taj Hotel. All coconuts around the city’s Gandhi museum are being taken down. Every year in India people are injured or even killed by falling coconuts.
On November 7, Obama will join in the Diwali celebration at a Mumbai School after which the US president would also deliver a speech on democracy at the Town Hall and interact with University students.
Obama would reach New Delhi on the evening of November 7, and his first stop would be the Humayan’s tomb.
Later, Obama and Michelle will have a private dinner with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife at the latter’s official residence.
Obama would also meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi and attend reception by US Ambassador at the Roosevelt House.
Next day, Obama would pay homage at Rajghat, the memorial of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
Then Obama will have a bilateral meeting with Manmohan Singh, and a news conference is also expected after that.
Throughout the day, Obama could have a number of meetings with other Indian officials, the schedule for which would be released later, when finalised. In the afternoon, Obama would address a joint session of the Parliament.
He would also call on President Pratibha Patil, and attend a Presidential Banquet same night and with that his trip to India comes to an end.
Obama will leave for Jakarta on the morning of November 9.
The trip on the relationship one-to-government on strengthening the Government’s policy, and India the sale of U.S. goods and technology on other large-scale investment inflows into India to promote the development of the United States focuses more on.
Obama in his third of the city a discussion about the three-day visit to Mumbai and Delhi during the visit, if time permits is determined. In addition to discussions between the Governments, the Business Summit will be held in Mumbai on November 6. Obama, the Finance Minister Pranav Mukherjee, Commerce Gary Locke and U. S. Secretary of USIBC President Terry McGrath will address the summit. Obama’s delegation of CEOs of major U.S. is expected to be with a team.
According to sources, articles of Obama concerns the company, which in the end defense, civil aviation and nuclear power will lead to sales of American products and technology deals. The last visit of the Presidents of the United States, the roads of India, the application ports, telecommunications, energy and dynamism of investment in infrastructure is the opposite.
The Indian business community, especially when combined with the strategic change Clinton first visit to India in 2000, far less than the contribution is less enthusiastic scope for business.
Obama is already getting off on the wrong foot even before he boards his jet. Obama spoke about his India trip with journalists from India this morning, telling them that two key issues facing Indo-US relations, a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and an easing of export laws, could be “very difficult and complicated”. Not what they wanted to hear.
Obama’s trip to India does include a meeting with Prime Minister Manohan Singh in New Delhi. The ten-day jaunt through Asia ends in South Korea. Barack Obama has already thrown India an insult, insisting that he be allowed to use teleprompters when he speaks before their Parliament. Teleprompters have never been allowed in the Indian Parliament! So, not only is Obama’s India adventure costing us U.S. taxpayers $200 Million dollars a day, but he’s setting the stage for another foreign policy gaffe which could set back relations with India for a decade or more. The only good thing about Obama going to India is that he won’t be around here for ten days.
