Obama Somalia Hostage Situation
Any president would take interest in hostage situations especially when an american is involved, not President Obama, “Guys, we’re talking about housing right now,” Obama said in response to a reporter’s question.
Richard Phillips the Underhill cargo-ship captain has been held hostage by Somali pirates in a lifeboat off the coast of East Africa for two days and Obama’s concern is “Guys, we’re talking about housing right now,”.
Obama could have made some mentioning to the family, express some concern for notations, anything. This is another case of ‘inexperience’ that has fell in the lap of Obama. The lifeboat carrying four pirates and Phillips is said to be equipped with food for three days and water for 10 days, but was adrift Thursday after running out of gas. The USS Bainbridge arrived at the site near the coast of Somalia and began communicating with the pirates. The Maersk Alabama departed the scene without Phillips. Several pirate controlled ships has start sailing toward the lifeboat.
There have been more that 130 attacks on ships off the coast of Somalia in the past year and more than 40 ships have been seized. President Obama still declined comments on Phillips….“Guys, we’re talking about housing right now,”. What do you think about this?
