Mavi Marmara Passengers Attacking Israeli Soldiers

Israeli forces raided six ships carrying pro-Palestinian activists and humanitarian supplies intended for the besieged Gaza Strip in the predawn hours on Monday morning, killings dozens of passengers, wounding more and sparking an international incident that could incite a widespread backlash against Israel. Israel’s military said that troops boarded the ships in international water. An IDF video clearly documents brutal attacks with metal clubs by the flotilla’s Muslim radicals on Israeli Navy commandos. Up to 19 people are dead and dozens more injured after Israeli commandos stormed the flotilla of protest boats taking aid to the Gaza strip.

Baghdad Bombing Killing More Than 50

The blasts left mountains of rubble, burying men, women and children. The first blasts rocked the city shortly before 9 a.m. in the adjoining Shiite districts of Shula and Shukuk. Within the next two hours, a building that was home to a restaurant and children’s arcade was dynamited in the Allawi neighborhood, a car bomb exploded, and two more buildings were blown up elsewhere in western Baghdad. More than 180 people were injured. The attacks followed the Friday massacre of 25 Sunni Muslim men south of Baghdad and suicide car-bomb attacks against three foreign missions in the capital that killed 41 people Sunday. Remember, June os 2009 Obama removed U.S. troops from Iraq.

Osama Bin Laden To Obama

Osama bin Laden endorsed the failed attempt to blow up a U.S. airliner on Christmas Day and threatened new attacks against America. Bin Laden’s one-minute message was aired by Al-Jazeera, directing his statements at U.S. President Barack Obama – “from Osama to Obama,” – bin Laden said: “America will never dream of security unless we will have it in reality in Palestine.”

Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize Speech

Speaking in Oslo, he acknowledged that his “accomplishments are slight” when compared to past winners including Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr.. At least Obama acknowledge that he wasn’t worthy of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. Obama confronted the situation of being a war president, ordering 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, then accept the Peace Prize. Obama said the war was something started by terrorists on 9/11. This is too funny, Team Obama blames Bush for recent Afghan woes. Reuters reported, via Drudge:

The United States and its allies must change strategy and boost cooperation to turn around the war in Afghanistan, the top U.S. and NATO commander there said on Monday, wrapping up a much-anticipated review.

U.S. Army General Stanley McChrystal said the situation was “serious” but the 8-year-old war could still be won. He gave no indication if he would ask for more troops but is widely expected to do so in the coming weeks…

A further increase could be politically difficult for Obama, with members of his Democratic Party increasingly uneasy about the war and congressional elections due next year.

The White House sought on Monday to pin the blame for the grave state of the war in Afghanistan on the Bush administration, which made Iraq its top military priority.

“This was underresourced, underfunded, undermanned and ignored for years,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

“The president is focused on ensuring that we meet measurable benchmarks. … It’s going to take some doing.”

Bomb Kills 112 In Baghdag

At least one suicide car bomber targeted a police patrol, while three more car bombs were set off across the Iraqi capital. The blasts were aimed at Iraqi government buildings. Almost another 200 peiople were injured. 112 were killed and 197 wounded. The four attacks showed the ability of insurgents to strike high-profile targets in the heart of Baghdad and marked the third time since August that government buildings were targeted with multiple blasts that brought massive bloodshed. This is an embarrassment to Obama and Iraqi forces in their expanding role as front-line security and Obama’s U.S. forces plan for withdrawal. The blasts happened around 36 hours after MPs had finally settled on 27 February as the date for a national election.

The attacks included car bombings, with the first in Dura at about 10 a.m. local time. Another car bomb exploded at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, while others took place in the busy commercial areas of Nahdha and al-Qashla Square. A fifth bomb blew up outside the Karkh Civil Court in western Baghdad’s Mansour district. Three people died and five were wounded in a first blast in a southern Baghdad suburb, others were killed and wounded in three or four more explosions in the city centre half an hour later. The blasts are the first large terrorist attacks in Baghdad since Oct 25, when two massive truck bombs killed 155 people at the justice ministry and the Baghdad governor’s headquarters. Insurgents have stepped up attacks at government sites in recent months. In August, suicide bombers hit the finance and foreign ministries, killing more than 100. Iraqi officials blamed the October attacks on loyalists to Saddam Hussein’s banned Baathist Party.

Somalia Use Portraits Of Obama For Target Practice

The recruits gather in scorching desert hideouts in Somalia and use portraits of Barack Obama for target practice. They learn how to make and detonate bombs, and vow allegiance to Osama bin Laden. Al-Qaeda leader Najeh Fazul Abdullah Mohammed is responsible for Somalia’s al-Shabab jihadist movement, and uses foreign trainers with battlefield experience from other conflicts. The trainees are trained by, Somali, Arab, and Western instructors in small arms, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, and military-style tactics. Najeh Fazul Abdullah is described as one of the most dangerous Al-Qaeda leaders in the world. Training camps are attracting hundreds of foreigners, including Americans, and Somalis recruited by a local insurgent group linked to Al-Qaeda. Najeh Fazul Abdullah has connections with-in the ranks of the Al Shabab Al-Mujahideen Movement.

Al-Qaeda opened a new training camp based in the Al Jaza area in the district of Mudiyah in the southern province of Abyan. The camp is said to house more than 400 local and foreign fighters. Yemenis, Saudis, and Somalis make up the vast majority of the fighters. The Yemeni government is known to support al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula while targeting jihadi groups that do not adhere to a peace agreement signed in January. The government supports the group in exchange for trained fighters. U.S. officials are concerned Somali-Americans who fought with al-Shabab will return to the United States and carry out attacks. As many as 20 from Minnesota have been lured to their homeland to join the jihad. A document unsealed in Minneapolis gave details on that attack. It said Shirwa Ahmed, a naturalized U.S. citizen and Minneapolis resident, took part in a truck-bombing in Bossaso, Somalia, on Oct. 29, 2008, against offices of a regional intelligence service. Ahmed, who was alone in the truck, was identified through a fingerprint obtained from a finger found at the bomb site. Jihadists linked to al-Shabab can roam through neighboring countries without attracting much attention and cross into northern Kenya.

Najeh Fazul Abdullah recently released a video showing its members vowing allegiance to bin Laden. The militants leaped over sandbags, crawled on the ground and fired at targets, affixed photos of Obama and Ahmed to wooden boards. Among al-Shabab’s ranks are an estimated 200 to 400 foreigners from Pakistan, Chechnya, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania and other countries. The government is backed by 5,000 African Union peacekeepers but controls only a few blocks in Mogadishu. The Al Shabab Al-Mujahideen Movement received the support and backing from Al-Qaeda and other extremist groups and foreign fighters battling the Somali government.

Obama Supporting Anti-Taliban Militias

The Community Defence Initiative (CDI) is enthusiastically backed by Stanley McChrystal, the US general commanding Nato forces in Afghanistan. Special forces will be able to access money from a US military fund to pay for the projects. US special forces are supporting anti-Taliban militias as part of a secretive programme that experts warn could fuel long-term instability in the country. The hope is that the militias supplement the Nato and Afghan forces fighting the Taliban. But the prospect of re-empowering militias after billions of international dollars were spent after the US-led invasion in 2001 to disarm illegally armed groups alarms many experts.

Obama hope the militias will encourage an increasingly demoralized Afghan population to take a stake in the war against the Taliban. By aiding the militias, Obama and Afghan officials hope to rapidly increase the number of Afghans fighting the Taliban. That could supplement the American and Afghan forces already here, and whatever number of American troops Obama might decide to send. The growth of the anti-Taliban militias runs the risk that they could turn on one another, or against the Afghan and American governments. Militias have begun taking up arms against the Taliban in several places where insurgents have gained a foothold, including the provinces of Nangarhar and Paktia.

The US government will make a pot of $1.3bn (£790m) available for the programme. The $1.3 billion in development funds for militias and warlords adds to US spending in Afghanistan, which totals $3.6 billion per month. Good decision or Bad decision?

Obama Said Military Tribunal Was Fine For Khalid Shaikh Mohammed

Atty. Gen. Eric Holder is defending his decision to bring Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the alleged 9/11 terrorist masterminds onto U.S. soil for civilian trials instead of keeping them far away in Guantanamo Bay for a military tribunal. Senator Obama, in 2006 said that a military tribunal was a perfectly fine way of handling such dangerous individuals as Khalid Shaikh Mohammed. This must have changed when he became President!

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Profile

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (خالد شيخ محمد‎) is reported to have been born in Kuwait to parents from Baluchistan in Pakistan. He spent some of his years in Kuwait. He joined the Muslim Brotherhood at age sixteen. He returned to Pakistan soon after, and after spending some time there. He went to the United States for further study at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University in the US where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1986. He attended Chowan College for a semester (beginning in 1983) before transferring to the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The following year he went to Afghanistan, where he and his brothers alongside Osama bin Laden fought against the Soviet Union during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. There, he was introduced to Abdul Rasul Sayyaf, of the Islamic Union Party. Mohammed moved to Qatar to work in a government office as a project engineer for the Qatari Ministry of Electricity and Water. He stayed at this job until 1996. In early 1996 he fled to Pakistan to avoid capture by U.S. authorities.

His first involvement with terrorism was a financier of the 1993 truck bomb attack on the World Trade Centre. This attack was planned by a group of conspirators including Ramzi Yousef, Mahmud Abouhalima, Mohammad Salameh, Nidal Ayyad and Ahmad Ajaj,  for which his nephew, Ramzi Yousef, was later found guilty. After the World Trade Center 1993 bombings, Mohammed decided to engage more directly in anti-U.S. activities. He traveled to the Philippines in 1994 to work with Yousef on Operation Bojinka, a Manila-based plot to destroy twelve commercial airliners flying routes between the United States, East Asia, and Southeast Asia. The plot was foiled after their flat caught fire and Yousuf was tracked to Pakistan.

Mohammed traveled in 1995 to Sudan, Yemen, Malaysia, and Brazil to visit elements of the worldwide jihadist community and meet with Osama bin Laden later that year. Mohammed began work on the September 11 attacks in 1998. In 2003 he was working on a plot to hijack aircraft and crash them into Heathrow airport, Big Ben and Canary Wharf when he was captured in March at a house in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

According to the 9/11 Commission Report he was “the principal architect of the 9/11 attacks.” The first hijack plan that Mohammed presented to the leadership of al-Qaeda called for several airplanes on both east and west coasts to be hijacked and flown into targets. His plan evolved from an earlier foiled plot known as Operation Bojinka, which called for 10 or more airliners to be bombed in mid-air or hijacked for use as missiles. In late 1998 or early 1999, bin Laden gave approval for Mohammed to go forward with organizing the plot. Bin Laden provided leadership for the plot, along with financial support. Bin Laden was also involved in selecting people to participate in the plot, including choosing Mohamed Atta as the lead hijacker.

In a 2002 interview with Al Jazeera journalist Yosri Fouda, Mohammed admitted his involvement, along with Ramzi Binalshibh, in the “Holy Tuesday operation”. Mohammed was arrested on March 1, 2003 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan and ultimately ended up at Guantanamo Bay. According to the “unclassified summary of evidence” presented during the Combatant Status Review Tribunal Hearing in 2007 a computer hard drive seized during the capture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed contained the following:

  • information about the four airplanes hijacked on 11 September 2001 including code names, airline company, flight number, target, pilot name and background information, and names of the hijackers
  • photographs of 19 individuals identified as the 11 September 2001 hijackers
  • a document that listed the pilot license fees for Mohammad Atta and biographies for some of the 11 September 2001 hijackers.
  • images of passports and an image of Mohammad Atta.
  • transcripts of chat sessions belonging to at least one of the 11 September 2001 hijackers.
  • three letters from Osama bin Laden
  • spreadsheets that describe money assistance to families of known al Qaeda members
  • a letter to the United Arab Emirates threatening attack if their government continued to help the United States
  • a document that summarized operational procedures and training requirements of an al Qaeda cell
  • a list of killed and wounded al Qaeda militants.

In March 2007, Mohammed testified before a closed-door hearing in Guantánamo Bay. According to transcripts of the hearing released by the Pentagon, he said, “I was responsible for the 9/11 operation, from A to Z.” The transcripts also show him confessing to:

Mental Health Aid In Afghanistan

The Army is doubling the number of mental health specialists in Afghanistan to address soldiers’ psychological troubles due to combat stress. The Army had about 43 behavioral health personnel in Afghanistan, one for every 1,100 soldiers. The Army is working to improve that ratio to one for every 700 soldiers, and to assign more mental health providers to brigades and battalions. About 30 percent of soldiers who have deployed three times or more meet the criteria for having a psychological problem, compared with about 14 percent on the first deployment and 18 percent on the second deployment. 65 mental health specialists will join 43 specialists in Afghanistan in an effort to reach more of the 68,000 U.S. troops.
