Rush Limbaugh Transcript: No, I’m Not Moving to Costa Rica

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: The Huffington Post, you remember we had a call here from a guy, we’re talking about health care and what’s going to happen after Obama puts private insurance out of business, how all the fines that businesses and individuals pay are much cheaper than having to go out and buy health insurance itself, and that people will naturally pay the fine. If they don’t have to go to jail they’ll pay the fine rather than incur costs, especially if the Senate bill says, which it does, that the day you have the auto accident, you get covered. You don’t have to have any coverage before that, but the day you’re in the crash you go to the hospital the insurance company has to pay for your treatment. Well, that’s not insurance, that’s private sector welfare and nobody could afford it and they’ll go out of business, which is the purpose. So a guy calls up and says, “If all this happens, what are you going to do?” And I said, “Well, if doctors are not permitted to opt out of the government insurance pool and so forth, Medicare, Medicaid, whatever it is, and if they’re not allowed to establish a private practice with private sector patients paying their own way, then I’ll go to Costa Rica.”

Well, that has been turned into I’m going to leave the country for Costa Rica and move there if Obamacare passes. I’ve had all kinds of reporters: “Are you serious? Do you really mean this?” So I’ve had to patiently explain today to people who do not bother to stay informed on this stuff what the genesis and the primary context of my comment was. I said, “Look, there are insurance companies who don’t want to be put out of business.” We’ve talked to them on the program. I’ve talked to them privately. They are establishing health care clinics with quality doctors in places like Costa Rica. They’re going to continue to sell policies to people who have the ability to fly down there and get treatment. If I have to get thrown into this massive government health care insurance business and end up going to the driver’s license office every day when I need to go to the doctor, yeah, I’ll go to Costa Rica for treatment, not move there. So they’re just in a tizzy out there, between Costa Rica and Eric Massa. So — (laughing) — it’s going to be a fun day. Heck, it already is a fun day.

RUSH: You know, I am in such hot water now. People in New Zealand are sending me e-mails: “How come you’re not coming here? You’ve been telling everybody you’re moving to New Zealand and now you’re saying you’re going to Costa Rica.” I did not say I’m going to Costa Rica. The stupid people in the media who cannot trouble themselves to read my transcripts or listen to this program, listen to out of context stuff. I was asked yesterday where will I go for health care if Obama’s health care passes, and I said if doctors here are not permitted to form private practice little clinics with individuals paying a fee, a retainer, and for services, then I’ll go to Costa Rica to get major medical health care. I didn’t say I would move there. They’re all over these websites: “Limbaugh says he’d move to Costa Rica. Why, what more incentive do we have to pass health care to get Limbaugh to move to Costa Rica?” Now, New Zealand is reading about this and they’re all bent out of shape that I’m somehow not coming there, all because of the stupid media. They are not competing for me because Costa Rica doesn’t think I’m going to move there, which I wouldn’t. Gosh.

Obama’s Afghanistan War

Since Obama became president, the war in Afghanistan has never been the focus. Obama has engineered a setback for the U.S. peace movement and the millions of Americans who opposed the Bush Administration’s unjust, illegal, immoral wars. Publicly ignoring Afghanistan is quickly becoming the norm for the Obama White House. He has yet to give a major address about the war in Afghanistan since he announced his new strategy.

Obama’s failure to sign an executive order to inform military commanders that the Geneva Conventions apply to the Afghan War means that other war crimes are ongoing:

  • failure to provide battlefield officers with appropriate legal advice (violating Article 82 to the 1st Protocol to the Geneva Conventions of 1977)
  • failure of commanding officers to report battlefield offenses to their superiors (violating Article 87(1) of the 1st Protocol to the   Geneva Conventions  of 1949)
  • failure of commanding officers to discipline or prosecute subordinates who commit war crimes on the battlefield (violating Article 87(3) of the 1st Protocol  to the Geneva Conventions of 1949)
  • failure of commanding officer to ensure that subordinates understand Geneva Convention obligations (violating Article 87(2) of the 1st Protocol  to the Geneva Conventions of 1949)
  • failure to prosecute commanding officers for not stopping battlefield offenses (violating Article 86 of the 1st Protocol  to the Geneva Conventions of 1949).

Obama ordered 17,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan Feb. 17. By Feb. 27 Obama decided 50,000 U.S. soldiers would remain in Iraq after “combat brigades” departed. December 2009, ordered 30,000 more US troops to Afghanistan, bringing US troop strength in the country to more than 100,000. February 12 was the latest major battle in Afghanistan. What has happened? President Obama, a Liberal Democrat, is continuing and expanded George W. Bush’s war. The world reminds silent, why? It’s Obama, a democrat, the first black president, and we don’t say anything when these three are mixed. John Q. Public, Obama is a WAR PRESIDENT, and if you think the Bush administration started an illegal war in Afghanistan, then that makes Obama WAR CRIMINAL.

New Photos Of The 9/11 Attack

Eight years after the deaths of 2,752 people on September 11, 2001, we see the spectacular moment of the Twin Towers collapsed. Burning buildings can be seen crumpling in on themselves as plumes of smoke rise up over the New York skyline. The images show how the police helicopter first began taking images from afar before moving in to reveal the devastation.

Obama Illegal Afghanistan War

Obama defended his war policies by suggesting they merely continue his predecessor’s practices, for all the Obama Kool-Aid Drinkers, this is George Bush. Obama’s explanation came in an interview with Katie Couric just before the Super Bowl. Obama dispatched 17,000 troops to Afghanistan last spring and another 30,000 troops to Afghanistan after Christmas. Obama increased the troop level by 50% and MSM has never said a word about it, did Katie Courie mention this? I’m sure if she receives a $15 Million salary, she would have mentioned something about Obama’s troop surge. Oh! Did I mention, when Bush sent troops to Afghanistan/Iraq the MSM called this an, “Illegal War.” Media called this a hastily passed Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) voted by Congress back in October 2001. But, it’s justified now Obama, a Democrat, is in office. Plain HYPOCRISY! Did $15 Million a year Katie Courie mention that Obama accepted the Nobel Peace Prize nine days after he announced he would send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan?

Bush’s justification for attacking Afghanistan was that it was harboring Osama bin Laden and training terrorists. What is Obama’s justification? After Bush demanded that the Taliban turn over bin Laden to the United States, the Taliban’s ambassador to Pakistan said his government wanted proof that bin Laden was involved in the 9/11 attacks before deciding whether to extradite him. The 9/11 Commission Report reveal, whenever the Commission referred to evidence of bin Ladin’s responsibility for the 9/11 attacks, the Commission was always referring to CIA-provided information,

Bin Ladin . . . finally decided to give the green light for the 9/11 operation sometime in late 1998 or early 1999. . . . Bin Ladin also soon selected four individuals to serve as suicide operatives. . . . Atta – whom Bin Ladin chose to lead the group – met with Bin Ladin several times to receive additional instructions, including a preliminary list of approved targets: the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the U.S. Capitol.17

The Taliban did not deliver bin Laden, and Bush began bombing Afghanistan. What is Obama’s excuse? ” If Operation Enduring Freedom” was not legitimate self-defense under the UN Charter because the 9/11 attacks were crimes against humanity, not “armed attacks” by another country, why has Obama decided to continue this war? By the way NATO is preparing for a major battle in Marjah this month. The MSM calls the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan illegal as well as the invasion of Iraq. America saw this invasion as a justifiable response to the attacks of September 11, 2001. Time magazine called it “The Right War.” Obama even campaigned on ending the Iraq war, which he did, but he escalating the war in Afghanistan. Remember, this is an Illegal War!

Obama is claiming that Afghanistan is part of the “epicenter of the violent extremism practiced by al Qaeda” in the world. A speech by Obama does not make a war legal.   The Afghan War that began in 2001 was supported by a Congressional resolution premised on the Taliban harboring Al Qaeda. When Al Qaeda moved to Pakistan, as stated by General David Petraeus in May, the war lost its legitimacy. Since taking office, Obama has not reinstituted the applicability of the Geneva Conventions to Afghanistan.

Under Obama, the Pentagon claims the right to engage in preemptive war, no different from the Iraq War. 37 types of war crimes were committed while Bush was in office. Today, under Obama, several provisions of the Geneva and Hague Conventions are being violated by ongoing combat in actions that are clearly war crimes. You don’t hear about these because the MSM has kept the public focus on Michelle’s fashion, health care reform, Tiger Woods sex scandals, why GOOGLE show Michelle Obama as a chimp, Lady Gaga, Democrat/Republican disagreements, Sarah Palin hand notes, and every time you mention action avoid by this Emptysuit, MSM and Liberals label you as a “racist.” I’m going to continue my posting on how this Emptysuit has fooled America as long as I can. The most deadly war crimes involve the use of aircraft to bomb targets. These aircraft are called “drones.” Obama started drone attacks on January 23, 2009, right after he settled in office. This attack killed at least 15 people inside Pakistan. From that point, Obama has continued to used “drones” to carry out attacks. On August 5, 2009, a wedding party was bombed in Helmand Province, killing 5 in attendance. On September 4, 2009, some 70 civilians were killed by a NATO airstrike in Kunduz Province. In addition, journalist Nancy Youssef reported on September 11 that schools have been destroyed. The attacks constitute several war crimes. Do you hear any MSM or Liberal talking about War Crimes against Obama? HELL NO!

War Crime:

  • destruction of undefended targets (violating Article 25 of the Second Hague  Convention of 1899)
  • excessive and indiscriminate attacks on civilians (violating Article 51 of  the 1st Protocol to the Geneva Conventions of 1949)
  • excessive military force (violating Article 57 of the 1st Protocol to the  Geneva Conventions
  • death by bombing is a form of extrajudicial execution (violating Article 6 of the  Covenant on  Civil and Political Rights of 1967)
  • failure to warn the authorities before bombardments (violating Article 26  of the Second Hague Convention of 1899)
  • failure to compensate for unjustified attacks on persons and property (violating Article 3 of the Fourth Hague Convention of 1907).

On September 7, 2009, under Obama, troops of the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division went to a hospital in Wardak Province of Afghanistan, kicked in the doors, tied up four hospital employees and two family members of patients, and forced patients out of beds during a fruitless search for members of the Taliban. The incident constituted two more war crimes:

  • Failure to observe the neutrality of a hospital (violating Article 1 of the  Red Cross Convention of 1864)
  • Failure to observe the neutrality of hospital employees (violating Article  9 of the 1929 Geneva Convention).

Journalist Jeremy Scahill reports that the Afghan War is being fought by mercenaries, who outnumber American troops. One use of mercenaries, is to put bombs on pilotless aircraft that have killed civilians. Another use is to shoot to kill on a public street, as in Kabul on May 5. The very use of mercenaries constitutes two more war crimes:

  • funding war mercenaries (violating Article 5 of the International Convention Against the Recruitment, Use, Financing, and Training of Mercenaries of 1993)
  • allowing mercenaries to engage in combat (violating Article 3 of the Convention on Mercenaries of 1993).

Obama’s war in Afghanistan, and especially his decision to intensify it dramatically, is being conducted illegally, without any actual authorization from Congress, as required by the Constitution. He is getting full support from MSM to justify his claim. As a constitutional lawyer, Obama knows that he is acting illegally. Did $15 Million a year Katie Courie ask Obama these questions? Do you hear any of the Obama Ass Kissing Bloggers addressing this? Do you hear any MSM addressing this issue? HELL NO!

Obama Meet With Black Leaders About Jobs

Barack Obama is scheduled to meet with black leaders in the Oval Office to talk about the economy and jobs. I figure he has nothing better to do since according to his schedule, the PRESIDENT has no other public events scheduled. In December 2009, African-American Democrats in the House put some pressure on Obama, boycotting a final committee vote on a financial regulatory reform bill that was a key priority of the administration. Ten CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) members who sit on the Financial Services Committee were protesting a lack of attention paid to the ongoing jobless situation in their districts. The original markup of the bill had been scheduled for the Thursday before the Thanksgiving recess, but CBC members, led by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), who chairs a financial services subcommittee, told Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) that they would not vote for the measure in order to protest the failure to stem joblessness in their districts.

In November 2009, the unemployment rate for blacks was 15.7 percent and 13.1 percent for Latinos compared to 9.5 percent for whites. Obama had been in office nearly a year. When the unemployment rate hit a 26-year high of 10.2 percent in October, it captured national attention. When Obama was elected he made all these promises about creating thousands of jobs, looking out for the “little man”, taxing the rich and giving to the poor. I figure since it’s over a year and Obama has not come through with his job claim, Benjamin Jealous of the NAACP, Marc Morial of the National Urban League, the Rev. Al Sharpton of the National Action Network and Dr. Dorothy Height of the National Council of Negro Women will spend the rest of their day listening to more of Obama’s lip service about creating jobs for black people. I wonder how many pictures will be taken?

Liberal’s Anti-War Hypocrisy.?

Throughout the 90’s every media outlet had some feed showing the anti-war movement toward the Bush/Cheney administration. These Liberal protestors did everything everywhere to voice their opinion toward Bush and Cheney. Remember Cindy Sheehan, Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Independent Progressive Ralph Nader, Republican Congressman Ron Paul,  Democratic congressional candidate Marcy Winogard, and Antiwar.com, GONE! What happened to them? Answer, A DEMOCRAT IS IN OFFICE NOW! Correction, A BLACK DEMOCRAT IS IN OFFICE NOW!  His name: Barack Hussein Obama. Is this just a clear-cut case of partisan hypocrisy.

Obama just signed a record $708 billion military budget, bigger than President Bush’s largest defense budget.

Obama allocated over $100 billion in supplemental funding for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The CIA has carried out a record number of Predator Drone attacks on targets in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other nations, attacks which led to the deaths of over 700 Pakistani civilians last year.

Obama instituted two new troop surges in Afghanistan, which added an additional 50,000 troops.

Obama’s two troop surges led to 2009 being the bloodiest year for American & NATO soldiers in Afghanistan.

A record number of private war contractors, approximately over 200,000, now operate in Afghanistan and Iraq under Obama’s command.

U.S. soldiers, mainly special forces, are now operating in Pakistan and Yemen.

Over 100,000 soldiers are still on the ground in Iraq, despite campaign pledges to commence a fairly rapid drawdown.  In addition, a significant spike in sectarian violence has occured in Iraq over the last six months, arousing new worries of yet another delay.

Guantanamo Bay is still open, despite Obama’s pledge to close it in a year’s time.

Obama ‘sproposal for a three-year federal spending freeze, the military budget was completely exempted.

Obama annual war spending now surpasses healthcare, education, welfare, and safety spending by all fifty state governments combined.

Obama notified Congress today that he will sell $6 billion in weapons to Taiwan.

If the anti-war movement and MSM needs to start holding Obama accountable, just as it did President Bush.

Obama Sudan Policy Aims To End Conflict

5813Obama’s Sudan strategy is to Engage, not isolate. This is a new strategy towards Sudan, offering incentives if they relieve the plight of their people but threatening tougher sanctions if they fail to establish long term peace. Obama’s policy has three goals: an end to the conflict, human rights abuses and genocide in Darfur; the implementation of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement between Sudan’s Muslim North and Christian South; and assurance that Sudan does not provide a safe haven for terrorists. An executive order signed in 1997 by President Bill Clinton prohibits a range of U.S. trade with Sudan, including the import of any Sudanese goods and the export to the country of anything except food, clothing and medicine. The original bill was meant to terminate all commercial activities between the two countries. It also prohibits the extension of U.S. credit to Sudan. The Darfur Accountability Act, passed in 2006, under President George Bush, requires the U.S. government to certify to Congress that Sudan is disarming pro-government militias and helping implement peace accords, among other steps, before those sanctions under the executive order can be lifted. The Bush administration’s sanctions aim to squeeze the country’s economy by freezing Sudanese companies out of American financial institutions and curtailing their dollar transactions. In May 2007, Bush imposed new economic sanctions on a total of seven individuals and more than 160 companies owned or controlled by the Government of Sudan. More than 100 companies operated in Sudan have already been blacklisted by the U.S. Treasury Department, among them Sudan’s biggest oil producer, the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Co.  Which pumps about 300,000 barrels a day. The UN Security Council voted in March 2005 to freeze the assets and bar the travel outside Sudan of anyone committing crimes against humanity in Darfur, including officials of the Sudanese government. Hillary Clinton called on Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir to end human rights abuses and war crimes in the province of Darfur.

Hillary Clinton spoke of the genocide that’s taking place in Darfur today. Civilians still fall victim to combat and systematic abuse. Clinton and U.N. Ambassador Susan E. Rice, the architect of the Sudan policy, said peacemaking efforts would be evaluated every three months. The international community has been unable to halt fighting between government-backed militias and rebels in Darfur. A 20 year civil war between Muslims in northern Sudan and Christians in southern Sudan has left 2 million dead and 4 million homeless. An estimated 300,000 people have been killed in the conflict since 2003. The conflict between North and South paved the way for the six-year campaign of rape, expulsion and murder against the residents of Darfur by the government backed Janjaweed militia. President Omar Hassan al-Bashir is, officially, a wanted man. On March 4, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the 65-year-old on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur. My question is, “Why does Obama want to make a deal with al-Bashir? A panel of three judges accused al-Bashir of personal responsibility for murder, extermination, rape and other crimes in the country’s western province (See pictures of Darfur descending into chaos.) al-Bashir led a bloodless coup in 1989 known as “the Salvation Revolution” to topple then-Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi. He suspended political parties and trade unions, and instituted Islamic law in much of the country. He Appointed himself President in 1993, returning Sudan to civilian rule, and won a presidential election in 1996 as the only candidate. He’s loosened the country’s economy to take advantage of oil production, and established strong trading ties with China and Russia. He accused Bill Clinton of ordering the 1998 destruction of a Sudanese pharmaceutical plant as a way to distract attention from the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Yes, this is the country that Bill Clinton bombed, remember? See why Hillary Clinton is involved here?

Like many policies, this one makes Obama look good to the media and on paper. Despite U.S. trade sanctions in place against the country since 1997, many well-known American products are widely available. A Coca-Cola and Pepsi are among prominent U.S. brands. Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have both secured export licenses from the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury, using legislation that allows blacklisted states to buy U.S agricultural commodities, medicines and medical equipment. Coca-Cola’s syrups are based qualified as an agricultural product. Pepsi brands are produced under “an OFAC license. German products included Siemens AG (capital goods), AgfaPhoto GmbH (capital goods, consumer goods), AutoStar Ltd. (authorized Mercedes Benz dealer for Sudan Automobile Industry), DEUDIAM (diamond tools and machines), KWH (plastic pipe equipment), SMF (liquid goods packaging machines), Vietz (pipeline equipment, welding technology), and WIDOS (plastic welding machines, tools). Germany wants to increase business relations with Sudan.  The sanctions will do little to stem Sudan’s oil exports. In recent years, Sudan has emerged as a small but fast-growing oil producer. Sudan now pumps about 500,000 barrels of oil a day two-thirds of them bought by China. Bottom line, Obama is still the Emptysuit running his mouth.

The Race Card

racecard

There is an old joke that goes “how do you know you are winning an argument with a liberal?”  The answer is “He calls you a racist.”  America, we are winning this argument. When South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted, “You lie!” during President Obama’s health care speech, he ignited a firestorm of controversy …. Racism. President Carter expressed his concern, stating, “I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity demonstrated towards President Obama is based on the fact that he is a Black man”. Carter went on to say that there is “a belief among some White people that African Americans are not qualified to run this great country”. The next day Carter said that Representative Joe Wilson’s outburst during President Obama’s health care speech was also rooted in racism. This “race card” has become the main tool for the Democrats. When they can’t win in the arena of ideas or debate, they reach for the “race card.” For the card to have any power, the majority of people do not need not to be racist, but have to be against the thought of any individual holding these ideals. If racism were no big deal with Obama, then the card would have no power. Calling someone a racist, true or not, would not have any power if he or she and those around him or her didn’t care about it.

Democrats are now using the “race card” to get their political way?  Liberal commentators began to suggest Wilson’s remarks were racially motivated. Bloggers started suggesting Wilson’s remarks were racially motivated. Some even suggested that Wilson meant, “You lie boy” some added the “n” word. Liberal/Democrats are always injecting race to their arguments, New York Rep. Charles Rangel claimed that bias and prejudice are the driving forces behind opposition to Obama’s health care reform proposals. Nancy Pelosi is calling out the opposition and suggesting that they are leading the country to violence. Knowing of course that all of the violence of the tense town hall protests has come at the hand of the left, including the ransacking of their own buildings to try to pin it on Republicans. New York Gov. David Paterson blamed race when he said in an Aug. 29 radio interview that the media have exploited racial stereotypes in covering him and other black elected officials. Judge Sonia Sotomayor commented that a “wise Latina” would be a better judge than a white man. Democrat, Congressman Hank Johnson, recently suggested that people might put on “white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside”. Hank Johnson is the guy who replaced Cynthia McKinny of Atlanta. She was the one who slapped a Capitol Security Officer and alleged racism when he wanted to see her ID that was a requirement of his Job. Democratic Rep. Bobby Rush of Illinois, who defended Sen. Roland Burris asked reporters not to “hang or lynch” Burris during a press conference. Obama caused a racial firestorm when he said a white police officer “acted stupidly” when he arrested a black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. Obama stated several times he didn’t know the facts of the case. This is ok if, You Are Black or a Demcorat. It’s a different story if you White or Republican, look at Glenn Beck, a popular conservative commentator for Fox News he said this about Obama and the Gates controversy: “This president, I think, has exposed himself as a guy, over and over and over again, who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture, I don’t know what it is. I’m not saying that he doesn’t like white people. I’m saying he has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist.”

African American needs to research the history of the Democrat Party. Many are fooled by this party’s false love. From the end of the Civil War, African Americans almost unanimously favored the Republican Party. The south had long been a Democrat stronghold, favoring a state’s right to legal slavery. In addition, the ranks of the fledgling Ku Klux Klan were comprised almost entirely of white Democrats. Do Your Research! 26 major civil rights votes from 1933 through the 1960′s civil rights era shows that Republicans favored civil rights in approximately 96% of the votes, whereas the Democrats opposed them in 80% of the votes! Republicans were the major support of the civil rights movement. 40% of the House Democrats VOTED AGAINST the Civil Rights Act, while 80% of Republicans SUPPORTED it.

The “race card” calling Democrat Senators organized the record Senate filibuster of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Including Robert Byrd, current senator from West Virginia, J. William Fulbright, Arkansas senator and political mentor of Bill Clinton, Albert Gore Sr., Tennessee senator, father and political mentor of Al Gore. (Yes Al Gore’s father’s opposed the Civil Rights Act), Sam Ervin, North Carolina senator, Richard Russell, Georgia senator

Democrat President John F. Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act while he was a senator, add Democrat Senator Al Gore, Sr. again.  Kennedy opposed the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which was organized by A. Phillip Randolph who was a BLACK REPUBLICAN.  Kennedy had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI on suspicion of being a Communist, thanks to his brother Attorney General Robert Kennedy. It was the Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery and passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws. The Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan to lynch and terrorize blacks. During the civil rights era of the 1960s, Dr. King was fighting the Democrats who stood in the school house doors, turned fire hoses on blacks and let loose vicious dogs. It was Republican President Dwight Eisenhower who pushed to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and sent troops to Arkansas to desegregate schools. President Eisenhower also appointed Chief Justice Earl Warren to the U.S. Supreme Court, which resulted in the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision ending school segregation. A REPUBLICAN! Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd (W.Va.), a former member of the Ku Klux Klan, called Dr. King a “trouble-maker” who starts trouble, but runs like a coward after trouble is ignited.

The Act was opposed by most southern Democrat senators, several of whom were proud segregationists—one of them being Al Gore Sr. Democrat President Lyndon B. Johnson relied on Illinois Senator Everett Dirksen, the Republican leader from Illinois, to get the Act passed.
