Charla Nash Reveals Her Face To Oprah
Charla Nash was mauled by a 200 pound chimpanzee in February. She appeared on “Oprah” to reveal her face and share details on her life since the attack. Nash lost both her hands in the attack, as well as her nose, an eyelid, and lips, doctors removed her eyes due to an infection. Nash told Oprah that she feels no pain but that she tries not to touch her face so as to avoid knowing the full extent of her injuries.
Charla’s family has filed a notice November 4th, with the state’s Office of Claims Commissioner in Connecticut asking for permission to sue the state for $150 million, saying officials failed to prevent the attack. Nash’s family earlier filed a $50 million lawsuit against Herold, saying she was negligent and reckless for lacking the ability to control “a wild animal with violent propensities.” The chimp which was shot and killed by police, had also escaped in 2003 from his owner’s car and led police on a chase for hours in downtown Stamford. No one was injured.
