Fort Hood Shooting; 12 Dead, 31 Injured
At least twelve people are dead and 31 wounded in a shooting at Fort Hood in Texas. It was unknown whether victims are soldiers or civilians. Two suspects were captured and four swat officers were wounded a policeman was among those shot. The shooter had a high-powered rifle and was reportedly aiming to kill. The shootings appeared to have occurred in a complex near a theater where a graduation was in service. Obama has been briefed about reports of a shooting. Army spokesman Lt. Col. Nathan Banks says the first shooting began at about 1:30 p.m. at a personnel and medical processing office. The second incident took place at a theater on the sprawling base.

Cone commanded the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan. September 22, 2009, Cone took over for Lt. Gen. Rick Lynch. More than 18,500 of Fort Hood’s troops are deployed to Iraq and more than 1,000 are in Afghanistan.
