Gov. Sonny Perdue on Tuesday asked President Obama to declare a state of emergency in the wake of near-record flooding in the state. Perdue said this week’s flood levels may match or exceed levels recorded on Jan. 9, 1946, the established record. U.S. Sens. Saxby Chambliss, R-Moultrie, and Johnny Isakson, R-Marietta, have asked for President Obama to quickly declare a federal disaster in metro Atlanta and other North Georgia areas.
More than 20 inches of rain has fallen in some areas and at least eight people have been killed in flood related incidents since the downpours started Sunday. Five miles of Interstate 20 on the west side of Atlanta was closed because of high water and the west side portion of the I-285 loop was also shutdown. About 12,000 power customers were without electricity and hundreds were in shelters.
The Left called George Bush all kind of names relating to Hurricane Katrina. Where are the cries now? Barack Obama has not lifted a finger to help the state of Georgia. Where are the Democrats criticizing Obama for his lack of interest? John Q. Public, this is a prime example of the Left. Do you see Kanye West drunk a$$ talking about “Obama hate black people now?” Do you hear any Democrat talking about the president lack of interest and not helping the state of Georgia? Do you hear any of the MSM talking about Obama’s lack of interest with these floods? The Democrats run the show, Georgia can be whipped of the face of the nation and nothing would be said, like nothing is said about these floods.
