Obama’s Beer Summit

The stage was set perfect. A Mass. Policeman, A Harvard Scholar, The President Of The United States, and The Vice President Of The United States, all together to drink a beer. After weeks of name calling, race throwing, shouts of ‘who did wrong’

Mass., police Sgt. James Crowley, Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden meet at the White House to have a beer. Obama a Bud Light, Crowley a Blue Moon, Gates a Sam Adams Light and Biden a Buckler non-alcoholic beer. America, if this was not the largest photo-op for Obama, tell me what was.

Photographers and reporters were allowed to see the three men and for about a minute as they sipped beers at a table just beside the White House Rose Garden.
America tuned in the silent movie to watch four men get buzzed. Obama has changed the language of men gathered beside stores from ‘drunks drinking’ to a ‘summit’ that was progress, however, this chance for the men to listen to each other was nothing more than a huge photo-op for Obama, a status ranking for Gates, a visit to the White house for Crowley. I don’t know why Biden was there.

Gates and Crowley could be seen conversing. Sgt. James Crowley calling it a “cordial and productive discussion.” Gates released a statement saying he hoped the experience will prove to be an “occasion for education, not recrimination.”
Crowley said he and Gates aired their differences frankly, focusing on moving forward rather than “dwelling on the past.”

They did not apologize. The Crowley and Gates agreed to disagree.

Was this a waste of time, a photo-op for all involved, or a move forward.
